The BHAGAVADGITA is the most precious and Holy Scriptures of the Hindu SANATHANA DHARMA. Very few people know the reality of BHAGAVADGITA and its importance. It is wrongly regarded that the Gita was preached first by KRISHNA to Arjuna on the MAHABHARATA WAR front in Kurukshetra in DWAPRAYUGAM. But in VARAHAPURANAM, VISHNU said that:
"I take My stand on the Gita, the Gita is My supreme abode. I maintain the three worlds on the strength of the wisdom contained in the Gita".
BHAGAVADGITA IS OLDER THAN THE VEDAS:
In fact according to SHREEMADBHAGAVATHAM Canto 9. Ch.1 and also from Ch.4:1 of BHAGAVADGITA, God first taught MANU this GITHA even before Vedas which were given later. This GITA was retold by SHRI KRISHNA to Arjuna.
There are three personalities involved in the discourse of GITHA. Nowhere in MAHABHARATHAM, KRISHNA was recognized as God and in so many instances He was called as MAHAPURANA (SUPERNATURAL ONE, or RAREST OF RARE ONES), PURUSHOTHAMA (BEST SUPER-HUMAN ONE). In BHAGAVADGITA, KRISHNA is there charioteering Arjuna’s chariot, and there is one person in KRISHNA who is answering and teaching and clearing all the questions and doubts of Arjuna. This personality was called by VYASA as "BHAGAVAN". This name was out used to KRISHNA in the entire Mahabharatham. Even in BHAGAVATHAM, KRISHNA in so many instances warns his people not to mistake him for THAT KRISHNA WHO IS ETERNAL ONE. E.g. the episode of GOVERDHANAGIRI (Canto 9 Ch. 25)
The real teaching of BHAGAVADGITA is Sacrifice. Without sacrifice it is not possible to please God and man cannot be reconciled to God without sacrifice (Ch. 3) In Text.3. The Lord says,
LOKESMIN DVI-VIDHAA NISHTHAA
PURAA PROKTAA MAYAANAGHA
"Sri Bhagavan said: Arjuna, in this world two courses of Sadhana (spiritual discipline) have been enunciated by Me in the past. In the case of the Sankhyayogi, the Sadyhana proceeds along the path of knowledge; whereas in the case of the Karmayogi, it proceeds along the path of Action." (3)
There are two ways of spiritual discipline. People who are pure in their heart come to me through the wisdom of knowing me. People who want to attain me and to abide in me for ever, attain me through the Act of Sacrifice.'
This act of sacrifice is called KARMAYOGA, not the work done by any man according to his nature, desire and condition of world as taught by the present day preachers of GITHA. God has reconciled the entire dying mankind of this world through ONE Great Sacrifice, which He Himself died in flesh as Supreme Sacrifice and rose in glory fulfilling His prophecy in BHAGAVADGITA Ch. 4:24
BRAHMARPANAM BRAHMA HAVIR
BRAHMAGNAU BRAHMANA HUTAM
BRAHMAIVA TENE GANTAVYAM
"In the practice of seeing Brahma everywhere as a form of sacrifice Brahma is the ladle (with which the oblation is poured into the fire, etc,): Brahma, again, is the oblation; Brahma is the fire, Brahma itself the sacrificer, and so Brahma itself constitutes the act of pouring the oblation into the fire. And finally Brahma is the goal to be reached by him who is absorbed in Brahma as the act of such sacrifice". (24)
The goal of karma-yogi is to attain God The Creator, through his self-sacrifice to that Creator. That Creator Himself comes as real sacrificial animal. That same Creator is the Fire that consumes the sacrifice on the altar. The sacrificer also is the Creator Himself. Finally the Creator of God to be reached by him (the Sacrifice) who is absorbed in Him as Sacrifice.
Thus through this GREAT SUPREME SACRIFICE “MAHAYAGNAM” GOD IS ABLE TO COME DOWN TO THIS EARTH IN HIS OWN HUMAN BODY AT THE END TIME. THIS HUMAN FORM OF GOD IS ETERNAL ONE, BECAUSE THIS UNSEEN GOD TOOK THIS FORM IN GLORY IN THE BEGINNING BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD AS MENTIONED IN BHAGAVATHAM CANTO 1 CH. 3:1. BUT IN THE END OF THE WORLD HE HAS TO COME IN HIS OWN HUMAN FORM HUMBLY ENOUGH TO PERTURB THIS EVIL WORLD AND IT’S WORLDLY PEOPLE WHO REJECT GOD.
Arjuna wanted to see THIS HUMAN FORM OF GOD when he so requested Krishna in Bhagavadgita Ch. 11. First there is Krishna, Arjuna’s boyhood friend, brother-in-law and his spiritual guide teaching him. Secondly HE sees THE GLORIOUS FORM OF LORD NARAYANA IN VISHVAROOPAM (Texts 9 - 14). Then Arjuna recognized that the SAME GOD was that Pranavam (‘OM’) - AKSHARAM - THE WORD. (Aksharam means ETERNAL, Indestructible, in Sanskrit). Even though God is in this PERISHABLE HUMAN FORM, Yet because HE IS GOD, HE LIVES EVERMORE IN THIS HUMAN FORM. That is the meaning of Aksharam (The Word). See Text 18.
TVAM AKSARAM PARAMAM VEDITAVYAM
TVAM ASYA VISVASYA PARAM NIDHANAM
TVAM AVYAYAH SASVATA-DHARMA-GOPTA
SANATANAS TVAM PURUSO MATO ME
"You are the Supreme Indestructible worthy of being known:
You are the ultimate refuge of this universe. You are, again, the protector of the ageless Dharma; I consider you to be the eternal imperishable Being".
THIS AKSHARAM IS IN THE FORM OF PURUSHA (MAN) IN THE UNAPPROACHABLE GLORY OF GOD - JYOTHI.
Then Arjuna recognized all the creations inside this VISHVAROOPAM OF GOD, even himself, all Kaurawas, etc, and also KRISHNA inside this Form (Text 26-30).

SARVE SAHAIVAVANIPALA - SANGHAIH
BHISMO DRONAH SUTA-PUTRAS TATHASAU
SAHASMADITYAIR API YODHA-MUKHYAIH

SANDRSYANTE CURNITAIR UTTAMANGAIH
"Swallowing through Your blazing mouths. You are licking all those people on all sides. Lord. Your terrible splendours are burning the entire universe, filling it with radiance." (30)
When Arjuna requested GOD TO REVEAL HIS IDENTITY, he was told that HE IS THE DESTROYER OF THE WORLDS; i.e. Arjuna saw THE GLORIOUS FORM OF GOD AT THE TIME OF END OF WORLD - PRALAYAKALAM.
Then Arjuna praises God (Texts 36 to 46). In Text. 38

"You are the primal Deity, the most ancient Person: You are the ultimate resort of this universe. You are both the knower and the knowable, and the highest abode. It is You who pervade the universe, assuming endless forms". (38)
Arjuna recognized GOD IN THE FORM OF FIRST BORN PURUSHA, NARAYANA IN GLORY. THEN WHEN ARJUNA WANTED TO SEE THE ROYAL DIVINE FORM OF GOD AS KING (Texts 45 - 46). TEXT 45

"Having seen Your wondrous form, which was never seen before. I feel transported with joy; at the same time my mind is tormented by fear. Pray reveal to me that divine form; the form of Visnu with four arms; O Lord of celestials. Abode the universe, be gracious". (45)
"I wish to see You adorned in the same way with a diadem on the head, and holding a mace and discuss in two or Your hands O Lord with a thousand arms, O Universal Being appear again in the same four-armed Form". (46)

EVAM RUPAH SAKYA AHAM NRLOKE

"Arjuna, in this mortal world I cannot be seen in this Form by anyone else than you, either through study of the Vedas or of rituals, or again through gifts, actions or austere penances".

DRSIVA RUPAM GHORAM IDRN MAMEDAM
VYAPETABHIH PRITA-MANAH PUNAS TVAM
TAD EVA ME RUPAM IDAM PRAPASYA
'Then because God loved Arjuna as His own heart, HE SHOWED HIS HUMBLE HUMAN FORM OF NARAYANA TO APPEAR LATER IN THE LAST DAYS OF WORLD - SAUMYAROOPAM (Gentle Form) (Text 50)'
If this Form is that of KRISHNA, Arjuna should have recognized Him. But, no! Arjuna called THIS FORM AS JANAARDANA (THE COMFORTER OF ALL THE SORROWS OF HIS DISCIPLES) - Text 51.
"Arjuna said: Krishna, seeing this gentle human form of Yours I have regained my composure and am myself again." (51)
ONLY BY SEEING THIS HUMAN FORM, ARJUNA IS STRENGTHENED IN HIS SPIRIT.
Then God explained to Arjuna in Text 52 to 55:

DEVA APY ASYA RUPASYA
"Sri Bhagavan said: This form of Mine which you have just seen is exceedingly different perceive. Even the gods are always eager to behold this form". (52)
NAHAM VEDAIR NA TAPASA
NA DANENA NA CEJYAYA
SAKYA EVAM-VIDHO DRASTUM
DRSTAVAN ASI NTAM YATHA
"Neither by study of the Vedas nor by penance, nor again by charity, nor even by ritual can I be seen in this form as you have seen Me". (53)

JNATUM DRASTUM CA TATIVENA
PRAVESTUM CA PARANTAPA
"Through single-minded devotion, however, I can be seen in this form nay known in essence and even entered into, O valiant Arjuna".
YAH SA MAM ETI PANDAVA
"Arjuna he who performs all his duties for My sake, depends on Me, is devoted to Me; has no attachment, and is free from malice inwards all beings, reaches Me". (55)
THIS GENTLE FORM OF GOD is difficult to recognize even by the angels (Text 52), except through self-surrender wholly to God which He explained in this Text Ch. 18:66.
SARWADHARMAAN PARITHYAJYA MAAMEKAM SHARANAM VRAJA
AHAM TWA SARVA PAAPEBHYO MOKSHAYISHYAAMI MAA SHUCHAHA
"Resigning all your duties to Me, the all powerful and all supporting Lord, take refuge in Me alone. I shall absolve you of all sins; worry not".
Forsake all religions, all your actions, thoughts and deeds of this world and surrender whole-heartedly to ME AND ME alone; I cleanse you from all your sin.
This is the aim of the advent of the SAUMYAROOPAM of God Almighty. This ministry of SAUMYAROOPAM is a three-fold one- (Gita 4:8)
PARITHARAANAYA SADHOONAM VINASHAAYA CHA DUSHKRITHAM
DHARMASAMSTHAAPANAARTHAAYA SAMBHAVAMI YUGE YUGE
"For the protection of the virtuous, for the extirpation of evil-doers, and for establishing Dharma (righteousness) on a firm footing, I am born from age to age." (8)
To save my virtuous people, to destroy the wicked people, and to establish My righteousness, I appear in human form.
WHEN THE PURPOSE OF GOD IN THE LIFE OF SHRI KRISHNA WAS FINISHED, SHRI KRISHNA RESIGNED HIMSELF AND RESOLVED TO THE SUPREME SPIRIT AND THEN WHEN THAT SPIRIT OF PARAMATMA LEFT HIM, HE DIED IN A NATURAL MANNER, ALLAVATARS HAVE TO DIE. BUT NARAYANA CAN’T DIE, EVEN THOUGH HE IS IN HUMAN FORM. THIS IS THE MYSTERY OF GODHEAD, EXPLAINED CLEARLY IN BHAGAVADGITHA. PEOPLE MAY CALL THE SUBSEQUENT SUPER HUMAN BEINGS LIKE GAUTAMA AS AVATAR OF NARAYANA. BUT IT IS NOT SO MENTIONED IN GITA OR BHAGAVATHAM. THESE TWO SCRIPTURES CLEARLY PROPHECY THE COMING OF LORD NARAYANA IN HIS SUBSEQUENT APPEARANCES AND THE TIME OF HIS APPEARANCE ON EARTH.
THE MAIN AIM AND MINISTRY OF THIS ADVENT OF LORD NARAYANA IN THE FINAL PHASE OF THE END OF THE WORLD IS TO ESTABLISH HIS DHARMA-HIS KINGDOM AND TO TAKE HIS PEOPLE WITH HIM IN GLORY WITHOUT DEATH as explained in Ch.2 - Texts 11 to 30. These Texts describe the nature of glorified human souls which have attained immortality without death. This is the perfect redemption of the people of God from the clutches of death. Then only the prophecy mentioned in Ch. 4:8 is fulfilled.
Seldom people realize that the WORD that God preached in GITA is now manifested in flesh as a MAN to be eternally glorified without death. THIS MANIFESTATION OF LORD NARAYANA HAS MATERIALIZED IN SOUTH INDIA as prophesied in the Holy Scripture of SHREEMAD BHAGAVATHAM. The corresponding sections are mentioned below.
